Thematic Issue: Changing Norms/Raising Awareness

By raising awareness about CRSV, by educating people about CRSV, existing social norms in society can be changed (e.g. harmful norms about masculinity, femininity, norms that support abuse of power).

Watch the video “Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict: The Laws of War,” a short animation produced by the International Committee of the Red Cross to raise awareness on CRSV.

Create Your Own Campaign

Elaborate on what a good prevention and/or awareness raising campaign (art, video, tv, social media, poster, or other material) would be with regard to conflict-related sexual violence. Consider, at least, the following elements for in the campaign:

  • The portrayal of the victims and perpetrators;
  • The target audience;
  • The word and/or design (photo or otherwise) use;
  • The use of campaign material;
  • Otherwise…. (everything else that is missing from this list).
